Born in Piacenza in 1723, Giuseppe Nadotti probably combined his career as a musician with instrument making throughout his life, as in the case of his close contemporary Gaspare Lorenzini. His activity as a player is proven by various archive sources, as well as his contacts with the family of Giovanni Battista Guadagnini, and one of his mentors, the cellist Carlo Ferrari.
Although Giuseppe Nadotti's profession as a luthier is equally proven by documents of the time, the extreme rarity of his works suggests that many of these, also known to Cozio di Salabue, may have later been attributed to some of his more famous colleagues. His style is rather classical in its patterns and taste, with elongated corners and a thin and well-executed purfling; his head model, on the other hand, tends to have a wide volute that ends in a strongly rounded eye.
