Born in 1910 in Bagnacavallo, between Ravenna and Bologna, Giuseppe Lucci approached violin making through the acquaintance of Pietro Borghi, himself a luthier from the same area who collaborated for a long time with Leandro Bisiach's Milanese workshop. In 1953, Lucci moved to Rome, where he had a very successful career and gathered several awards for his work.
Initially influenced by the Emilia-Romagna school, his style became more classical but perhaps also less personal during the last decades of his activity. He used various models including Stradivari, Guarneri del Gesù and Guadagnini and a good orange varnish.
