Lazzaretti, Francesco

A violin maker active in Vicenza during the second half of the nineteenth century, Lazzaretti made stringed instruments for the De Lorenzi, a well-known family of organ makers, but sometimes he also signed them on his own, using a handwritten label.

His model is personal, with open C-bouts and short corners pointing outwards. The F-holes are quite long and present the characteristic of having the notches cut only on the external part of the top. The scroll has an elongated shape, a pronounced hollowing of the volute and a thin bevel, in the style of the Venetian school of this period.
