Ferroni, Fernando

Born in 1868, he came into contact at a young age with Valentino De Zorzi in Florence, from whom he received advice even though most of Ferroni's instruments were made during later years.

His technique is peculiar due to the use of an external mould with linings passing over the corner blocks and several other details, including metal locating pins. His instruments have broad, long corners and sturdy edges carved into a deep fluting. The sound-holes are often positioned quite close to each other with respect to the width of the sound box; the button is also characteristic in its describing almost three quarters of a circle, while the scroll model is quite classical with a wide volute and a deep throat.
