Born in Ferrara in 1924 and son of the better-known violin maker Gaetano, Gabriele Pareschi was a multifaceted figure of musician and entrepreneur who also frequently devoted himself to instrument-making. His family already had long musical traditions, and Gabriele began performing in his youth with local orchestras, dedicating himself above all to jazz; he later contributed to the invention and marketing of a new engineering for electric pianos equipped with mechanical cylinders together with the Davoli firm. At this time he relocated with his family in the province of Parma, where he lived until 1975; he subsequently moved to Piacenza, where he was joined by his father, and finally to the province of Lodi.
His activity as a luthier took place mainly in these two centers and focused on the construction of double basses, having good commercial success. His style, although influenced by his father's Ferrarese taste, is simpler and less refined.
