The Sacchetti brothers, Gianetto and Leonida, grew up in an area between Reggio Emilia and Modena, towards the Po River, which was very vibrant at the beginning of the 20th century due to the flourishing of a musical culture linked to popular entertainment and dance traditions. Born in 1892 and 1902 respectively, they were both carpenters, while Leonida also ran a café.
We notice in their instruments a certain influence from Stefano Scarampella, whose work was an example for many makers active in the northern Reggio Emilia area in the early decades of the century. The Sacchetti brothers showed a preference for the models of Guarneri del Gesù, which they interpreted with a Mantuan taste and a certain attention to precision in construction and detail. Chronologically, most of their instruments date back to the 1930s.
