Muncher, Romedio

Born in Corte de 'Frati in 1874 into a family of Trentino origin, Romedio Muncher trained as a sculptor and carver at the "Ala Ponzone" school in Cremona. He worked professionally in this field for some local firms and independently, before being hired by the Officina Claudio Monteverdi of Aristide Cavalli in 1899, where he worked until the outbreak of the First World War. Later he briefly collaborated with the Milanese company Roth Pelitti Bottali to finally open his own workshop in 1923.

His style was influenced by his experience in these firms, particularly in the finish and the varnish. His favorite pattern has an elongated shape, especially in the central part; the F-holes have a very tilted positioning; the head ends with a massive volute and a rounded central eye.
