Aldo Maumery, whose surname is sometimes also found in the wording "Momary", was born in Parma in 1916. He was thus just 13 years old when he became a pupil of Gaetano and Pietro Sgarabotto at the Parma Violin Making School, founded in 1929. Maumery was therefore part of that group of younger students, often orphaned during the war, who only rarely managed to start an independent production, something in which the two "senior" students of the school were successful, despite many difficulties: Raffaele Vaccari and Sesto Rocchi.
Although this student of the Parma School remained unknown to most, his work denotes a clear influence of the Sgarabottos, in particular in the model of the scroll and of the F-holes.
