De Rub, Angelo

Although not many details are known about the life of this violin maker, we know that he was active in Viterbo during the third quarter of the 18th century, and his work is quite original and easy to identify.

His body model is a bit massive and typically Roman, while the design of his F-holes shows a strong influence by Jacobus Stainer; the corners are open and short and the purfling is quite thick; the plates tend to have a high arching with a characteristic ridge in the central part.
