Carletti, Genuzio

Born in 1905 and nephew of Carlo Carletti, Genuzio trained as a luthier under his uncle's guidance. During his lifetime, he also worked as a carpenter and in various other occupations, but always continued to make instruments.

Starting in the 1930s, he severed ties with Carlo and the other family members, working independently, and after the war he collaborated assiduously with Giuseppe Settin, a maker and dealer who had settled in New York City. His style thus evolved from the traditional family style to a more international taste, but with a clearly recognizable Emilian influence.
