Bruschi, Angelo

Born in 1899 in Città di Castello, Angelo Bruschi was initially trained as a carpenter, later specializing in draftsmanship at a vocational school of his city. Probably self-taught, he managed to obtain some professional satisfaction as a luthier, even though he died prematurely in 1933.

While his choice of materials is typical for the school of central Italy, particularly for the locally sourced maple, his body models are rather classical, inspired in this case by Guarneri del Gesù. The corners are short and open towards the outside, and the broad purfling is placed at a considerable distance from the edge. The head is heavily influenced by previous makers from his area; the peg-box is short and very little hollowed at the throat, the volute is small, deeply carved and terminates with a rounded eye.
