Breton, François

A luthier widely imitated by French mass production in the early 20th century, François Breton was active in the first decades of the previous century.

His style is typical of Mirecourt instruments from the early 19th century. The models are rather large with square C-bouts, flat arching, and sound holes positioned high on the soundboard. The fluting of the edge is wide and flat, and the varnish is usually amber in color.
